Philadelphia will have a new area code starting March 3rd, 2018. The new 445 area code was approved on November 9, 2016 by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission and will serve the same geographic area currently served by overlay complex 215/267 - the city of Philadelphia, PA. 10 digit dialing is already used to dial local calls within the overlay complex' current boundaries.
