New York Area Code 363

Published: February 28, 2022

The densely populated Nassau County on the western side of Long Island, New York, bordering NYC's Queens borough to the west and Suffolk county to the east is to be assigned an overlay numbering plan area code less than a year from now on January 20, 2023.

Currently, Nassau County's cities and towns such as Hempstead or Levittown are served solely by area code 516. The new area code 363 will be overlaid on this entire region, forming NPA overlay complex 516/363.

The current dialing plan within NPA's 516 borders is:

  • all local calls are dialed using 10 digits (area code + local number)
  • all toll calls originating here are dialed using 1 + 10 digits

When the new area code 363 will be activated on January 20, 2023 the same dialing plan will be used.
