Southwestern Wisconsin, USA, currently using area code 608 will, from September 2023, begin using a new area code as the relief method for the aforementioned Numbering Plan Area. The new 353 NPA will be overlaid on the existing 608 NPA, therefore covering the same geographic area. Some of the towns and cities using area code 608: Arcadia, Camp Douglas, Janesville, La Crosse, Madison (state capital), Packwaukee or Soldiers Grove.
The dialing plan here already requires 10 digits for local and 1+10 digits for toll calls, so no changes in how phone numbers are dialed will be implemented with the new area code's activation.
